When Nintendo announced that the legendary 2D side-scrolling series Metroid was making the leap into the third dimension under the development of Retro Studios, fans were initially skeptical. Once the home of the enlightened Chozo race, the world is now a graveyard of ancient ruins being slowly consumed by a mutagenic substance known as Phazon. Players uncover the history of the Chozo and the Space Pirates' nefarious experiments through the game's innovative Scan Visor, piecing together a tragic lore that adds immense depth to the lonely trek across snowy peaks, volcanic caverns, and lush jungles.
