In 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker for the Nintendo Gamecube, the main goal is to deliver the truck's cargo to the finish line before time runs out. Players can gain extra time by hitting special vans along the way. The game features a selection of characters, each with their own unique truck and stats. The journey starts in Key West and spans across the United States, ultimately ending in San Francisco. After the initial stage, players can choose between trailers that offer varying degrees of difficulty and financial reward. Damaging the trailer results in monetary deductions. Players can use the horn to move other cars out of the way, as well as slipstream behind larger vehicles for a brief speed boost. Besides beating the clock, players must also compete against "Lizard Tail", a rival trucker, and they can also earn extra money by playing a parking mini-game in between stages.
