A Clockwork Ley-Line is a trilogy of visual novels set in a mysterious academy where day and night coexist as separate realities. In 'The Borderline of Dusk,' a new student named Michiru is compelled to work for the school's Bureau for the Investigation of Special Affairs after accidentally breaking a statue. Along with his companions, Michiru must resolve supernatural incidents caused by magical items known as 'Mists' that arise when the clock tower chimes and the 'Realm of Night' merges with the school. In 'Zanei no Yoru ga Akeru Toki,' Michiru and Ushio continue their tasks at Tenbinruri Academy until a foreign girl named Adelheid seeks their help in finding her grandmother's memento, and they discover more about the connection between the day and night worlds. Finally, in 'Asagiri ni Chiru Hana,' the night world crumbles and students vanish. Mitsuyoshi investigates a fire that happened at the school 20 years ago in order to reunite with his friend Kotarou. Meanwhile, the school's principal plotted to bring back the night world, revealing all of the school's remaining mysteries.
