In Ace Armstrong vs. the Alien Scumbags! for the Playstation Portable, players experience a frenetic side-scrolling shooter infused with a humorous, over-the-top style reminiscent of classic sci-fi from the 50s and 60s. Rather than typical power-ups, Ace utilizes the Recyl-o-Ray to defeat enemies and repurpose their own weaponry against them. The game follows Ace as he embarks on a mission to save Earth from the Alien Scumbags, a group of crazed, tentacled invaders. His adventure takes him across Earth's surface, through treacherous asteroid fields, onto a Scumbag Factory Ship, and ultimately to the Scumbags' home planet before venturing into the enigmatic Dimension X to finally eradicate the Scumbag menace.
