Based on the animated film and toy line of the same name, Action Man: Robot Atak for the Game Boy Advance pits Action Force against the nefarious Dr. X and his robotic army. These mechanical minions are terrorizing cities worldwide, prompting Action Force to infiltrate Dr. X's secret base on Island X. Players control Action Man, Redwolf, and Flint as they navigate the island, reunite, and thwart the evil doctor's plans. The core gameplay consists of side-scrolling platforming with an emphasis on action across 17 stages. Players jump, climb, and battle numerous enemies, including Dr. X's robots and the island's indigenous creatures like spiders, bats, and dinosaurs. Each character possesses unique skills: Redwolf wields a bow, while Action Man and Flint initially rely on their fists. They can acquire weapons such as throwing discs (Action Man), various guns with temporary power-ups, and a boomerang (Flint). Only Flint can double jump. Collecting 50 Action Man icons grants an extra life. Regular health and extra life pickups are also available, along with checkpoints scattered throughout each level. Beyond traditional platforming, players also experience variety with levels where Flint rides a dirt bike and Redwolf surfs. These segments feature a behind-the-character perspective as players dodge obstacles and collect Action Man icons. Other levels see Action Man riding a motorcycle up a volcano, firing missiles and leaping gaps, or using a helicopter pack to fly through the level.
